Introduction
At Semetis, we live by the values of growth, exploration, energy, and involvement. Our one-month sabbatical program, which was introduced last year, reflects these principles by giving our employees, after five years at the company, the opportunity to recharge and pursue personal aspirations.
6 weeks in a bubble
Recently, I made use of this and combined four weeks of sabbatical with two weeks of holiday to fulfil of my travel dreams: the journey through Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It's safe to say that these six weeks is life-changing: from exploring vibrant markets in Hanoi to cruising the Mekong River, every experience provided a chance to recharge and reflect on what truly matters, both personally and professionally.
This time off also gave me a chance to reflect. The 'pause' from the fast pace of an active work life made me think about what really matters at the personal level, maybe even beyond the career perspective. I returned with a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunities, challenges, and support that Semetis has provided over the years.
A great thing which happened with this program is that feeling of coming back home. My colleagues welcomed me with open arms, and it proved that the dynamic and collaborative spirit that makes Semetis so special was still here. I came back with recharged batteries, new ideas, and a strengthened commitment to the Semetis mission.
Conclusion
This program is more than a gesture of gratitude; it’s a strategic initiative to foster well-being and retain talent. For me, it reaffirmed my belief in Semetis as the right place for my continued growth. I look forward to contributing even more in the coming years, knowing I’m part of a company that truly values its people.
