Brussels - January 9, 2023 - Gabriel Goldberg and Nicolas Debray, the co-founders of Semetis, have announced the sale of their remaining shares to Omnicom Media Group, making the agency fully owned by Omnicom Media Group.
The story of Semetis began in Brussels in March 2009, when Goldberg and Debray, both former Googlers, recognized the challenges faced by the media industry in the digital age. They launched Semetis with the goal of building the best in-class data-driven marketing agency by understanding the evolution of technology, introducing a consulting arm, and putting data at the center of everything to better serve advertisers and improve efficiency and productivity. Thirteen years ago, the Brussels-based agency was seen as a radical, disruptive and atypical player in the industry. "Because it was so different from what existed back then, Semetis has for long been perceived as an ugly duckling before becoming the coolest kid in town and winning the respect of almost everyone," said Nicolas Debray.
In 2015, Semetis was taken in by the Omnicom family, as the majority of the shares were sold to Omnicom Media Group. The integration of Semetis within Omnicom Media Group brought a new level of media inventiveness and allowed the agency to further expand its services, growing from a performance agency to a full-funnel digital agency.
